Vien Tham Long-Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) This is a great cover sent in Janauary, 1975 shortly before the fall of South Vietnam into Communist hands. It was sent from a Ranger Recon unit or Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP), from KBC 3338. Obscured by the Quan Buu machine cancel is the abbreviation "HQ," or Hanh Quan, meaning the letter was sent from "in the field." Vien Tham 1 = LRRP (Company) 1 Tham Kich "B" = Recon Force "B" The cover was sent to a riverine minesweeper serviced by KBC 6649. This watercraft was likely turned over the the VNN by the United States as part of the "Vietnamization" program. Giang Doan (GD) 92 = River Group 92 Truc Loi = Minesweeper
