Thu Duc Infantry School Insignia

Cover sent 29 May 1973 from Thu Duc Infantry School by an officer trainee cadet of the 224th Platoon, Company 2, 2d Battalion. "T" indicates insufficient postage was paid. The handstamp marking "Bau-Cu Som, Hoa Binh Mau" means "Early Election, Peace Coming Soon." The insignia on this cover and the one below differ slightly. Note the curvature of the hand guard at the base of the sword; it is curved on this weapon, similar to a fluer de lie (the letterhead has a straight-hand guard type insignia). The text at the sides of the emblem also extends further up the flames. Note the red insignia handstamp on the cover below. The latter cover was mailed 17 August 1966.
